This place is breathtaking. The summer of 2013 we took a trip to California, then a roadtrip from Arizona through to Vegas. We were only passing through Zion for a day, but we filled it with as much as we could. We started our morning hiking the narrows for a few hours. Here your walking in a river between gigantic stone walls. Sadly we didn’t make it too far in and will have to return for sure. As we were leaving we finally had the courage to hike up Angels Landing. This hike is scary. Your about 1200 feet up walking along a narrow ridge, holding on to chains (when available) with nothing to keep you from falling. For obvious reasons my camera was in my backpack and thus there are not really any pictures from the landing upward. The switchbacks were exhausting, especially in the heat of the summer. We were just about at the top, when suddenly I just froze. I couldn’t go any further; a mix of exhaustion from the day and total fear. Sadly we turned around and headed back down. I don’t know if I will ever try that hike again and reach the top. We were SO close that I’d like to think I would but… that was one scary hike.
