After an eight hour car ride, with four people and an entire car load of camping gear, we arrived at our campsite. Now we’ve camped at many places, but this one was very different. It was a lot more isolated for car camping. The sites are big, with private access to the water for a lot of them. It honestly felt like there was no one else around. It was so peaceful! We spent the first day of our trip hiking up Helenbar Lookout. Wow. Absolutely beautiful at the top! And I’ve seen my fair share of lookouts! After a wonderful campfire and delicious dinner, we hit the tents. The second day we rented two canoes and went across Flack lake. It was a LOT farther then we thought it would be! (And I wanted to climb the mountain at the other side… yeah right!) We stopped for lunch at an unused backcountry site and then continued on our way. After a swim in the lake and another delicious dinner, we went to sleep ready for our eight hour car ride back home! Would I go back here to camp? Absolutely!
